In addition, patients were required to have a score of 3 or more on at least 3 of the following items of the PANSS: anxiety, tension, hostility and excitement. Some people, especially the elderly, may also experience impairment in thinking, judgment, and motor coordination. Disease-associated maternal and/or embryo/fetal risk. Titration within the range of 4080 mg twice daily (in 20 mg twice daily increments) was permitted for the duration of the study. Patients with a pre-existing low WBC or a history of drug induced leukopenia/neutropenia should have their complete blood count (CBC) monitored frequently during the first few months of therapy and should discontinue GEODON at the first sign of decline in WBC in the absence of other causative factors. Other Adverse Reactions Observed During the Premarketing Evaluation of Oral Ziprasidone. In the second phase of the study, the effect of ziprasidone on QTc length was not augmented by the presence of a metabolic inhibitor (ketoconazole 200 mg twice daily). Therefore, a safe and effective dose for use could not be established. Ziprasidone inhibited synaptic reuptake of serotonin and norepinephrine. Consistent with in vitro results, a study in normal healthy volunteers showed that ziprasidone did not alter the metabolism of dextromethorphan, a CYP2D6 model substrate, to its major metabolite, dextrorphan. Typically lasts 1.5-3 hrs. Therefore, ziprasidone should not be given with: Ziprasidone is contraindicated in individuals with a known hypersensitivity to the product. There was no effect on fertility at 40 mg/kg/day (2 times the MRHD based on mg/m2 body surface area). Nevertheless, the presence of multiple factors that might increase the pharmacodynamic response to ziprasidone, or cause poorer tolerance or orthostasis, should lead to consideration of a lower starting dose, slower titration, and careful monitoring during the initial dosing period for some elderly patients. Yes, you can mix both in the same syringe Can you mix xanax and Ativan? It is important to emphasize that, although the reactions reported occurred during treatment with ziprasidone, they were not necessarily caused by it. Although not reported with ziprasidone in premarketing trials, disruption of the body's ability to reduce core body temperature has been attributed to antipsychotic agents. Ziprasidone's activity is primarily due to the parent drug. The ideal first line medications to use for rapid tranquilization of an acutely agitated patient are benzodiazepines and antipsychotics. Ziprasidone may induce orthostatic hypotension associated with dizziness, tachycardia, and, in some patients, syncope, especially during the initial dose-titration period, probably reflecting its 1-adrenergic antagonist properties. Ziprasidone intramuscular has not been systematically evaluated in elderly patients (65 years and over). When agitation presents as an acute risk, these medications can be given as an intramuscular (IM) dose for even more rapid onset of action, and when time is of essence. Given these considerations, ziprasidone should be prescribed in a manner that is most likely to minimize the occurrence of tardive dyskinesia. Ziprasidone binds with relatively high affinity to the dopamine D2 and D3, serotonin 5HT2A, 5HT2C, 5HT1A, 5HT1D, and 1-adrenergic receptors (Ki s of 4.8, 7.2, 0.4, 1.3, 3.4, 2, and 10 nM, respectively), and with moderate affinity to the histamine H1 receptor (Ki=47 nM). This effect may be greater when higher doses of carbamazepine are administered. The mean apparent systemic clearance is 7.5 mL/min/kg. If long-term therapy is indicated, oral ziprasidone hydrochloride capsules should replace the intramuscular administration as soon as possible. During long-term therapy with ziprasidone, a categorization of patients at baseline on the basis of body mass index (BMI) revealed the greatest mean weight gain and highest incidence of clinically significant weight gain (> 7% of body weight) in patients with low BMI (<23) compared to normal (2327) or overweight patients (>27). Can you mix Tylenol with lorazepam? The in vitro plasma protein binding of ziprasidone was not altered by warfarin or propranolol, two highly protein-bound drugs, nor did ziprasidone alter the binding of these drugs in human plasma. The developmental no-effect dose is 5 mg/kg/day (0.2 times the MRHD based on mg/m2 body surface area). (ziprasidone mesylate), NDC 0049-1203-10 This product's label may have been updated. Upon appearance of rash for which an alternative etiology cannot be identified, ziprasidone should be discontinued. (ziprasidone mesylate), fluoxetine, quetiapine, lamotrigine, venlafaxine, Abilify, Seroquel, Prozac, aripiprazole, olanzapine, risperidone. There is a pregnancy exposure registry that monitors pregnancy outcomes in women exposed to atypical antipsychotics, including GEODON, during pregnancy. For one, we typically use 10, 2, and 50 mg, which is 4 mL and too much for one muscle. Long-standing hyperprolactinemia when associated with hypogonadism may lead to decreased bone density. The effect that symptomatic suppression has upon the long-term course of the syndrome is unknown. The stated frequencies of adverse reactions represent the proportion of individuals who experienced, at least once, a treatment-emergent adverse reaction of the type listed. Package insert / product label Precise risk estimates for hyperglycemia-related adverse reactions in patients treated with atypical antipsychotics are not available. Title: 136192_NDH12 Author: BDTEMP1 Created Date: 1/14/2011 9:39:58 PM . This medicinal product must not be mixed with other medicinal products or solvents other than Sterile Water for Injection. Appropriate care is advised when prescribing ziprasidone for patients who will be experiencing conditions which may contribute to an elevation in core body temperature, e.g., exercising strenuously, exposure to extreme heat, receiving concomitant medication with anticholinergic activity, or being subject to dehydration. The effect on fertility appeared to be in the female since fertility was not impaired when males given 160 mg/kg/day (8 times the MRHD based on mg/m2 body surface area) were mated with untreated females. The possibility of multiple drug involvement should be considered. All interactions studies have been conducted with oral ziprasidone. Ziprasidone at a dose of 20 mg twice daily did not affect the pharmacokinetics of concomitantly administered oral contraceptives, ethinyl estradiol (0.03 mg) and levonorgestrel (0.15 mg). There is no known treatment for established cases of tardive dyskinesia, although the syndrome may remit, partially or completely, if antipsychotic treatment is withdrawn. Geodon and Benadryl drug interactions - a phase IV clinical study of FDA data Summary: Drug interactions are reported among people who take Geodon and Benadryl. Contents should be mixed thoroughly by gently inverting the . Systemic Bioavailability: The bioavailability of ziprasidone administered intramuscularly is 100%. DRESS is sometimes fatal. Hypokalemia may result from diuretic therapy, diarrhea, and other causes. Additionally, clinicians should be alert to the identification of other drugs that have been consistently observed to prolong the QTc interval. Table 11 enumerates the incidence, rounded to the nearest percent, of treatment-emergent adverse reactions that occurred during acute therapy (up to 6 weeks) in predominantly patients with schizophrenia, including only those reactions that occurred in 2% or more of patients treated with ziprasidone and for which the incidence in patients treated with ziprasidone was greater than the incidence in placebo-treated patients. Examination of population subsets based on gender did not reveal any differential responsiveness. Medically reviewed by Drugs.com. Low serum potassium and magnesium should be replaced before proceeding with treatment. And for two, Benadryl never gets mixed with Haldol in the same syringe: precipitate forms in about 5 minutes. It has a molecular weight of 412.94 (free base), with the following chemical name: 5-[2-[4-(1,2-benzisothiazol-3-yl)-1-piperazinyl]ethyl]-6-chloro-1,3-dihydro-2H-indol-2-one. Do not mix with other drugs (i.e., in the same syringe). It is recommended that patients being considered for ziprasidone treatment who are at risk for significant electrolyte disturbances, hypokalemia in particular, have baseline serum potassium and magnesium measurements. Ziprasidone may antagonize the effects of levodopa and dopamine agonists. The possibility of obtundation, seizure, or dystonic reaction of the head and neck following overdose may create a risk of aspiration with induced emesis. Ziprasidone injection requires reconstitution prior to administration. Evidence for the use of chemical sedation is limited to small trials of at most a few hundred patients. Advise breastfeeding women using GEODON to monitor infants for excess sedation, irritability, poor feeding, and extrapyramidal symptoms (tremors, and abnormal muscle movements) and to seek medical care if they notice these signs [see Use in Specific Populations (8.2)]. The developmental and health benefits of breastfeeding should be considered along with the mother's clinical need for GEODON and any potential adverse effects on the breastfed child from GEODON or from the mother's underlying condition. ATIVAN Injection must be diluted with an equal volume of compatible solution. Rare adverse reactions occurring in fewer than 1/1000 patients (<0.1% of patients). All pregnancies have a background risk of birth defect, loss, or other adverse outcomes. Nevertheless, ziprasidone's larger prolongation of QTc length compared to several other antipsychotic drugs raises the possibility that the risk of sudden death may be greater for ziprasidone than for other available drugs for treating schizophrenia. Ziprasidone (Geodon) agitation may occur; Lorazepam 0.05 mg/kg IV/IM/PO up to 2 mg per dose. Hd\5@,T3!StR?~. Whether antipsychotic drug products differ in their potential to cause tardive dyskinesia is unknown. Ziprasidone is not removed by hemodialysis. Aspiration pneumonia is a common cause of morbidity and mortality in elderly patients, in particular those with advanced Alzheimer's dementia. Since no preservative or bacteriostatic agent is present in this product, aseptic technique must be used in preparation of the final solution. All of these patients survived without sequelae. Schizophrenia and bipolar I disorder are associated with increased adverse perinatal outcomes, including preterm birth. In patients who do require chronic treatment, the smallest dose and the shortest duration of treatment producing a satisfactory clinical response should be sought. but as this is a thread about the use of haldol and ativan together, one would hope the ativan would counteract the possiblity of akathesia . Ziprasidone was shown to increase time to copulation in Sprague-Dawley rats in two fertility and early embryonic development studies at doses of 10 to 160 mg/kg/day (0.5 to 8 times the MRHD of 200 mg/day based on mg/m2 body surface area). The diagnostic evaluation of patients with this syndrome is complicated. Because clinical trials are conducted under widely varying conditions, adverse reaction rates observed in the clinical trials of a drug cannot be directly compared to rates in the clinical trials of another drug and may not reflect the rates observed in practice. The mean change in QTc from baseline was calculated for each drug, using a sample-based correction that removes the effect of heart rate on the QT interval. In placebo-controlled trials in elderly subjects with dementia, patients randomized to risperidone, aripiprazole, and olanzapine had a higher incidence of stroke and transient ischemic attack, including fatal stroke. Elderly patients with dementia-related psychosis treated with antipsychotic drugs are at an increased risk of death. Mixing the two could lead to serious side effects such as drowsiness, impaired motor skills, and even respiratory depression. Neonates exposed to antipsychotic drugs, including GEODON, during the third trimester are at risk for extrapyramidal and/or withdrawal symptoms following delivery (see Clinical Considerations). Commonly Observed Adverse Reactions in Short Term-Placebo-Controlled Trials. Drug Reaction with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms (DRESS). These medications may be given alone or in combination. The most common reactions associated with dropout in the ziprasidone-treated patients were akathisia, anxiety, depression, dizziness, dystonia, rash and vomiting, with 2 dropouts for each of these reactions among ziprasidone patients (1%) compared to one placebo patient each for dystonia and rash (1%) and no placebo patients for the remaining adverse reactions. Certain circumstances may increase the risk of the occurrence of torsade de pointes and/or sudden death in association with the use of drugs that prolong the QTc interval, including (1) bradycardia; (2) hypokalemia or hypomagnesemia; (3) concomitant use of other drugs that prolong the QTc interval; and (4) presence of congenital prolongation of the QT interval. Feb 15, 2021 A grizzled LPN veteran taught me a nice little trick, pull up your haldol first in the syringe and inject it into your Ativan vial, then draw both of them up. Unchanged ziprasidone represents about 44% of total drug-related material in serum. Published data from observational studies, birth registries, and case reports on the use of atypical antipsychotics during pregnancy do not report a clear association with antipsychotics and major birth defects. . The following findings are based on the short-term placebo-controlled premarketing trials for schizophrenia (a pool of two 6-week, and two 4-week fixed-dose trials) and bipolar mania (a pool of two 3-week flexible-dose trials) in which ziprasidone was administered in doses ranging from 10 to 200 mg/day. The primary endpoint in this study was time to recurrence of a mood episode (manic, mixed or depressed episode) requiring intervention, which was defined as any of the following: discontinuation due to a mood episode, clinical intervention for a mood episode (e.g., initiation of medication or hospitalization), or Mania Rating Scale score 18 or a MADRS score 18 (on 2 consecutive assessments no more than 10 days apart). In the rat study, there was no evidence of an increased incidence of tumors compared to controls. Ziprasidone dosed adjunctively to valproate in a maintenance trial of bipolar patients did not affect mean therapeutic valproate levels. The standard dose of the combination used for chemical sedation of the agitated patient is "ten and two" meaning 10mg of Haldol and 2mg of Ativan. DRESS consists of a combination of three or more of the following: cutaneous reaction (such as rash or exfoliative dermatitis), eosinophilia, fever, lymphadenopathy and one or more systemic complications such as hepatitis, nephritis, pneumonitis, myocarditis, and pericarditis. However, in some circumstances there may be compelling reasons for mixing two or more parenteral drug solutions in the same infusion bag, in the same syringe or at a Y . Explorations for interactions on the basis of gender did not reveal any clinically meaningful differences in the adverse reaction occurrence on the basis of this demographic factor. No overall differences in safety or effectiveness were observed between these subjects and younger subjects, and other reported clinical experience has not identified differences in responses between the elderly and younger patients, but greater sensitivity of some older individuals cannot be ruled out. In the other study, the higher dose was 10 mg, which could be given up to 4 times in the 24 hours of the study, at interdose intervals of no less than 2 hours. Interpretation of these findings should take into consideration that only patients who adequately tolerated ziprasidone entered the double-blind phase of the study, and there were substantial dropouts during the open label phase. In male mice, there was no increase in incidence of tumors relative to controls. GEODON for Injection is available in a single-dose vial as ziprasidone mesylate (20 mg ziprasidone/mL when reconstituted according to label instructions) [see Dosage and Administration (2.1)]. Jun 27, 2014. Given these confounders, the relationship between atypical antipsychotic use and hyperglycemia-related adverse reactions is not completely understood. Severe cutaneous adverse reactions are sometimes fatal. This possibility needs to be considered in deciding among alternative drug products [see Indications and Usage (1)]. Two meds that are Y site compatible may not necessarily be compatible mixed in an IM syringe. Dosage form: injection, powder, lyophilized, for solution This higher dose group was not superior to placebo on the BPRS psychosis cluster or on the SANS. The results of the intramuscular ziprasidone trials follow: GEODON for Injection should be stored at 25C (77F); excursions permitted to 15C to 30C (59F to 86F) [see USP Controlled Room Temperature] in dry form. Most patients improved promptly with adjunctive treatment with antihistamines or steroids and/or upon discontinuation of ziprasidone, and all patients experiencing these reactions were reported to recover completely. Subscribe to Drugs.com newsletters for the latest medication news, new drug approvals, alerts and updates. Based on the pharmacologic action of ziprasidone (D2 antagonism), treatment with GEODON may result in an increase in serum prolactin levels, which may lead to a reversible reduction in fertility in females of reproductive potential [see Warnings and Precautions (5.15) and Nonclinical Toxicology (13.1)]. While the clinical trials did not reveal any tendency for drug-seeking behavior, these observations were not systematic and it is not possible to predict on the basis of this limited experience the extent to which ziprasidone will be misused, diverted, and/or abused once marketed. Agranulocytosis (including fatal cases) has also been reported. While these two medications can be used to treat different conditions, it is important to know that they should not be mixed in the same syringe. Clinical trials for intramuscular ziprasidone included 570 patients and/or normal subjects who received one or more injections of ziprasidone. In case of acute overdosage, establish and maintain an airway and ensure adequate oxygenation and ventilation. This material is provided for educational purposes only and is not intended for medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. ECG Changes - Ziprasidone is associated with an increase in the QTc interval [see Warnings and Precautions (5.3)]. Ziprasidone was superior to placebo in increasing the time to recurrence of a mood episode. In the first phase of the study, the mean change in QTc from baseline was calculated for each drug, using a sample-based correction that removes the effect of heart rate on the QT interval. There are no known clinically relevant inhibitors or inducers of aldehyde oxidase. In a long-term (at least 1 year), placebo-controlled, fixed-dose study in schizophrenia, the mean change from baseline weight for ziprasidone 20 mg BID was -2.6 kg (N=72); for ziprasidone 40 mg BID was -3.3 kg (N=69); for ziprasidone 80 mg BID was -2.8 kg (N=70) and for placebo was -3.8 kg (N=70). The mean daily dose of ziprasidone in this study was 132 mg. Some drugs that prolong the QT/QTc interval have been associated with the occurrence of torsade de pointes and with sudden unexplained death. A person should not mix Ativan and Xanax. A study was conducted in stable chronic or subchronic (CGI-S 5 at baseline) schizophrenic inpatients (n=294) who had been hospitalized for not less than two months. Ziprasidone has not been evaluated or used to any appreciable extent in patients with a recent history of myocardial infarction or unstable heart disease. An in vitro enzyme inhibition study utilizing human liver microsomes showed that ziprasidone had little inhibitory effect on CYP1A2, CYP2C9, CYP2C19, CYP2D6 and CYP3A4, and thus would not likely interfere with the metabolism of drugs primarily metabolized by these enzymes. In a 4-week, placebo-controlled trial (n=200) comparing 3 fixed doses of ziprasidone (5, 20, and 40 mg twice daily), none of the dose groups was statistically superior to placebo on any outcome of interest. The absolute bioavailability of a 20 mg dose under fed conditions is approximately 60%. Although the causes of death were varied, most of the deaths appeared to be either cardiovascular (e.g., heart failure, sudden death) or infectious (e.g., pneumonia) in nature. Patients were observed for "impending psychotic relapse," defined as CGI-improvement score of 6 (much worse or very much worse) and/or scores 6 (moderately severe) on the hostility or uncooperativeness items of the PANSS on two consecutive days. Intramuscular Preparation for Administration. Hypotension and circulatory collapse should be treated with appropriate measures such as intravenous fluids. Can you mix geodon and lorazepam in the same syringe? It is greater than 99% bound to plasma proteins, binding primarily to albumin and 1-acid glycoprotein. Hsrf|/pfb/@?ShA@ Xq5 9

When deciding among the alternative treatments available for the condition needing treatment, the prescriber should consider the finding of ziprasidone's greater capacity to prolong the QT/QTc interval compared to several other antipsychotic drugs [see Warnings and Precautions (5.3)]. Anyone who finds an antipsychotic inadequate will most likely either never find any antipsychotic adequate or will find a different drug more helpful or more risk-effective tha. Mixing solutions of parenteral drugs is generally not recommended because of the potential for incompatibility and consequent loss of activity of one or both drugs. The recommended dose is 10 mg to 20 mg administered as required up to a maximum dose of 40 mg per day. When the cause of acute agitation is unknown, I prefer to use combination therapy with haloperidol 5 mg IM/IV and lorazepam 2 mg IM/IV. Common interactions include weight increased among females and dyspnoea among males. In a 4-week, placebo-controlled trial (n=139) comparing 2 fixed doses of ziprasidone (20 and 60 mg twice daily) with placebo, only the 60 mg dose was superior to placebo on the BPRS total score and the CGI severity score. Lifetime carcinogenicity studies were conducted with ziprasidone in Long Evans rats and CD-1 mice. Overall available data from published epidemiologic studies of pregnant women exposed to ziprasidone have not established a drug-associated risk of major birth defects, miscarriage, or adverse maternal or fetal outcomes (see Data). Dosage modifications for age or gender are, therefore, not recommended. The mean daily dose of ziprasidone in this study was 112 mg. It is generally not recommended to mix Geodon and Ativan in the same syringe, as there is a potential for interaction between the two medications. Intramuscular ziprasidone has not been systematically evaluated in elderly patients or in patients with hepatic or renal impairment. When taking any two medications, consider this in addition to the fact that they have different mechanisms of action. There is little potential for drug interactions with ziprasidone due to displacement [see Clinical Pharmacology (12.3)]. Discontinue ziprasidone if severe cutaneous adverse reactions are suspected. Ziprasidone was administered for 24 months in the diet at doses of 2, 6, or 12 mg/kg/day to rats, and 50, 100, or 200 mg/kg/day to mice (0.1 to 0.6 and 1 to 5 times the MRHD of 200 mg/day based on mg/m2 body surface area, respectively). In the 4- and 6-week placebo-controlled trials in adults, somnolence was reported in 14% of patients on ziprasidone compared to 7% of placebo patients. In rats, embryofetal toxicity (decreased fetal weights, delayed skeletal ossification) was observed following administration of 10 to 160 mg/kg/day (0.5 to 8 times the MRHD based on mg/m2 body surface area) during organogenesis or throughout gestation, but there was no evidence of teratogenicity. They're not even allowed in the same syringe. Distribution: Ziprasidone has a mean apparent volume of distribution of 1.5 L/kg. Ziprasidone had no effect on serum prolactin in rats in a 5-week dietary study at the doses that were used in the carcinogenicity study. Primary rating instruments used for assessing manic symptoms in these trials were: (1) the Mania Rating Scale (MRS), which is derived from the Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia-Change Version (SADS-CB) with items grouped as the Manic Syndrome subscale (elevated mood, less need for sleep, excessive energy, excessive activity, grandiosity), the Behavior and Ideation subscale (irritability, motor hyperactivity, accelerated speech, racing thoughts, poor judgment) and impaired insight; and (2) the Clinical Global Impression-Severity of Illness Scale (CGI-S), which was used to assess the clinical significance of treatment response. Approximately 4.1% (29/702) of ziprasidone-treated patients in short-term, placebo-controlled studies discontinued treatment due to an adverse reaction, compared with about 2.2% (6/273) on placebo. Patients with neutropenia should be carefully monitored for fever or other symptoms or signs of infection and treated promptly if such symptoms or signs occur. In clinical trial and postmarketing experience, events of leukopenia/neutropenia have been reported temporally related to antipsychotic agents. Division of Pfizer Inc In premarketing trials involving more than 5400 patients and/or normal subjects, accidental or intentional overdosage of oral ziprasidone was documented in 10 patients. As ziprasidone is cleared substantially by the liver, the presence of hepatic impairment would be expected to increase the AUC of ziprasidone; a multiple-dose study at 20 mg twice daily for 5 days in subjects (n=13) with clinically significant (Childs-Pugh Class A and B) cirrhosis revealed an increase in AUC 012 of 13% and 34% in Childs-Pugh Class A and B, respectively, compared to a matched control group (n=14). Doses of 10 mg may be administered every two hours; doses of 20 mg may be administered every four hours up to a maximum of 40 mg/day. Such drugs should not be prescribed with ziprasidone. Acute Treatment of Agitation in Schizophrenia. The phase IV clinical study analyzes what interactions people who take Geodon and Benadryl have. THATS THE POINT. In clinical trials with oral ziprasidone, the electrocardiograms of 2/2988 (0.06%) patients who received GEODON and 1/440 (0.23%) patients who received placebo revealed QTc intervals exceeding the potentially clinically relevant threshold of 500 msec. In many cases this would lead to the conclusion that other drugs should be tried first. As with other antipsychotic drugs, ziprasidone should be used cautiously in patients with a history of seizures or with conditions that potentially lower the seizure threshold, e.g., Alzheimer's dementia. In placebo-controlled trials in adults, oral ziprasidone increased the QTc interval compared to placebo by approximately 10 msec at the highest recommended daily dose of 160 mg. Titration within the range of 4080 mg twice daily (in 20 mg twice daily increments) was permitted for the duration of study (beginning on Day 2). In one study, the higher dose was 20 mg, which could be given up to 4 times in the 24 hours of the study, at interdose intervals of no less than 4 hours. Last updated on Mar 1, 2022. The easiest way to lookup drug information, identify pills, check interactions and set up your own personal medication records. 2) Undifferentiated but routine drunk agitation: 5-10 mg Versed, also . Generally, in the maintenance phase, patients continued on the same dose on which they were stabilized during the stabilization phase. In vivo studies have revealed no effect of ziprasidone on the pharmacokinetics of estrogen or progesterone components. Although torsade de pointes has not been observed in association with the use of ziprasidone in premarketing studies and experience is too limited to rule out an increased risk, there have been rare post-marketing reports (in the presence of multiple confounding factors) [see Adverse Reactions (6.2)]. In the schizophrenia trials, ziprasidone was associated with a mean increase in heart rate of 1.4 beats per minute compared to a 0.2 beats per minute decrease among placebo patients. If you are prescribed both medications, it is important to take them as directed by your healthcare provider. In the U.S. general population, the estimated background risk of major birth defects and miscarriage in clinically recognized pregnancies is 2 to 4% and 15 to 20%, respectively. This may be more likely to occur in older adults or those with a debilitating condition. Do not mix haloperidol and LORazepam, consult with your pharmacist or doctor before doing so. However, the data were insufficient to fully assess the safety of Geodon in pediatric patients. As with other antipsychotic drugs and placebo, sudden unexplained deaths have been reported in patients taking ziprasidone at recommended doses. There was no clear evidence for a dose-response relationship within the 20 mg twice daily to 100 mg twice daily dose range. Clinical trials in adults for oral ziprasidone included approximately 5700 patients and/or normal subjects exposed to one or more doses of ziprasidone.
